You also pass along the same master resell rights to your customers. It’s a great way to launch a digital product business without having to start from scratch with product creation.
So, yes, it is a legitimate way to make an income online.
How to Make Money with Master Resell Rights
The most common method for making money with master resell rights is to buy an MRR course, learn from it, and then recommend it to others.
Many digital marketers are doing just that on social media platforms such as Instagram. They promote the benefits of digital marketing by creating Instagram reels and talking about master resell rights in the caption.
Anyone can get started with master resell rights if they are willing to learn some basic marketing skills and can be committed to marketing consistently.
MRR products also tend to have a nice price point. Most sell for $500. You would only need to make two sales a day to hit $1K.
That equates to $15K a month if you can create a steady flow of targeted traffic. Again, it takes consistent effort.
I’m talking about marketing your product every day, building an email list, and figuring out new ways to attract targeted traffic.

It’s important to do your research because most MRR courses will not include a refund policy since they are digital products.
Why MRR is Not a Passive Income Source
I wouldn’t call MRR a passive income source because it isn’t. You have to promote consistently and many of the top digital marketers do that daily.
Follow a successful digital marketer on Instagram and take note of how much content they are producing in a day and a week.
You’ll quickly realize that a master resell rights business is by no means a passive income stream.
At the most, I would refer to MRR as semi-passive income. Sales can still come in while you are doing other things like sleeping, shopping, or watching TV.
However, those sales will be based on the work that you did prior. Semi-passive income is still a lot better than trading your time for money.

As a product owner, you’ll also have to provide customer support. Your customers may have questions and there will be those who are not satisfied with the product.
That may mean refund requests. Those are not fun but they can happen and you’ll want to make it easy for your customers to reach out to you.
Provide a support email address on your website and product receipts.

I’m all about automation in my online business. The way I accomplish this is by setting up a sales funnel.
A sales funnel is another term for a two-page website that helps you build an email list. However, it is a powerful way to help automate your business.
When you have a sales funnel, then you can direct people to your landing page. Offer a free incentive in exchange for a visitor’s email address.
When a visitor submits their info, they will be added to your email list. Now, you have an automated way to follow up with your visitors and continue to market your product to them.

You’ll need sales funnel software and email marketing software to set up automation. The most popular sales funnel software to consider include:

To close out, I do not consider MRR to be a passive income source. It is semi-passive at best. It is still an excellent online business model if you want to sell digital products and do not want to create a product.
