Both affiliate marketing and master resell rights have been around for many years. Let’s dive into affiliate marketing first.

How Affiliate Marketing Works

This is one of the simplest online business models to start. Affiliate marketing is the promotion of another company’s products in exchange for a commission for every sale that is referred.

It all begins by joining an affiliate program. There are tons of affiliate products on the market and each one is part of an affiliate program.

Each affiliate program will offer its own commission rate. Commission rates range and can be as low as 3% or as high as 75% or more.

I like to choose affiliate offers that have commissions between 30% – 50%. These rates can often be found for high-ticket affiliate offers.

Getting Paid Your Affiliate Commissions

Almost all affiliate programs have a 30 – 45-day waiting period before commissions are paid out. This is to cover any possible customer refunds.

Commissions can be paid via PayPal, check, direct deposit, or wire transfer. I’ve received payouts by PayPal as well as direct deposit.

Types of Affiliate Products You Can Promote

There are many kinds of products you can promote that have affiliate programs. You can choose from both physical and digital products.

Regardless of the niche you’re in, there is likely an affiliate product that you can recommend to your audience. Take a look at large online retailers such as Amazon or Walmart that have affiliate programs.

My favorite products to promote are digital, particularly online courses. I love promoting these because I enroll in the courses myself. The customer can receive their product instantly.

How to Promote Affiliate Products

You have many options for promoting affiliate products. There are both free and paid ways. As a beginner, I recommend learning organic traffic first.

Two good organic traffic methods include blogging and social media. These are the methods I use and I favor blogging more than anything else. Using social media is supplemental.

The reason I like blogging best as an organic traffic strategy is thanks to SEO (search engine optimization.) When you learn some basic SEO skills, it is possible to generate targeted traffic.

Blog traffic can last for years so long as you continue to create content regularly.

How Master Resell Rights Work

The MRR (Master Resell Rights) model has been around for many years. Recently, it has made a resurgence. It is one of the easiest ways for anyone to have a digital course of their own to sell.

When you find a digital product that offers master resell rights, you can then buy it and license it as your own. Depending on the terms of the MRR product that you buy, you may even be able to modify it by adding or removing parts of the course.

You can then sell the course as your own for the price you paid for it or higher. This is an advantage that master resell rights offer over affiliate marketing. Rather than make a percentage of the sale, you get to keep 100% of it.

Unlike affiliate marketing, there is no waiting period to receive your money. The only delay will be how long it takes for your payment processor to transfer the money to your direct deposit.

Learn and Earn with Master Resell Rights

Another benefit of master resell rights is that you can start earning income right away even as you go through learning from the product yourself. For example, let’s say you buy a digital course with master resell rights.

You can turn around and sell it as your own immediately. You can use what you’ve learned in the course (if it’s related to marketing) or promote the course by sharing bits and pieces of what you’re learning at the time.

Things You’ll Need to Sell MRR

Unlike affiliate marketing where you do not need your own product, you will need to set up some things before you can sell your digital product with master resell rights.

First, you’ll need to set up an eCommerce store with a payment processor. You can use a sales funnel software or any shopping cart software you choose that supports selling digital products. Payment processors can include PayPal, Stripe, or another that your shopping cart software supports.

Customer Support

Since you’re selling a digital product, this means you will have to include customer support for questions, concerns, and any possible refunds. You’ll also have to be concerned about chargebacks which can cause issues with your payment processor.

Some things can’t be helped (such as chargebacks) but if you provide excellent customer support, these issues are likely to be far and few between.

Should You Buy a Master Resell Rights Digital Marketing Course?

After reading the differences above between affiliate marketing and MRR, I think it is worth buying a master resell rights digital marketing course.

What I do recommend is doing some research and reading reviews before you invest in one. Unfortunately, a lot of MRR courses are basic and often generic in the information they contain.

I’m part of a high-level coaching program and many of the people in the program when asked if they’ve purchased an MRR course stated that the courses were very generic.

Do your research and be sure the master resell rights are legitimate.

Pros and Cons of Affiliate Marketing

Pros

I do think that MRR has its advantages. However, I like affiliate marketing because I don’t have to deal with payment processing or customer service.

I’m not opposed to selling a digital marketing master resell rights product and am quite interested in the business model.

Another thing I like about affiliate marketing is that there are tons of products you can choose from to promote in just about any niche.

It is also a beginner-friendly online business model and it is easy to learn.

Cons

Since you are leveraging other people’s products, there is always the possibility that the product will stop being sold which would in turn affect your income.

In rare events, an affiliate program may not be able to pay your commissions. There have been instances when I’ve had to request my commissions because the affiliate program didn’t pay on the due date.

Pros and Cons of Master Resell Rights

Pros

Since you are licensing the MRR product, you can resell it as your own making you a product owner.

Rather than get a percentage of every sale, you get 100% of every sale of your digital product.

Cons

You’ll be responsible for payment processing, refunds, and customer support.

Digital Marketing is a Great Business for Beginners

Whether you choose to do affiliate marketing or sell your digital course with master resell rights, there is more than enough opportunity to earn a lucrative income online.

Also, consider combining MRR with affiliate marketing. There is no reason that you can’t do both and boost your income even more.
